Mountain Bike and Bicycle

Starting from Galå Fjällgård, there are numerous forest roads that are excellent for exploring by bike. The nature and landscape in Jämtland have a number of lonely places and hidden natural gems to offer.

A mountain bike or e-mountain bike are the perfect choice for your rides. However, some tours can also be ridden on a normal bike or e-bike, as well as a trekking bikes or gravel bikes.

We have two to four mountain bikes available for rent.

Guests can rent a mountain bike under following conditions:

  • 20 euros for the whole day
  • 15 euros for 3 hours

We have worked out some tour suggestions for our guests. These tour suggestions include a variation from easy routes to challenging half day or entire day tours in the countryside of Sweden.

Fishing

In the lakes, rivers and streams around Galå Fjällgård there is a large population of trout, char, grayling and pike.

You can fish in Börtnan's two popular fishing areas "East" and "West". Mountain fishing in water bodies above the tree line is a special experience.

Enjoy the most beautiful fishing spots in Jämtland's undisturbed nature. You can easily reach many shores by car or on foot. Lonely forest and mountain lakes are just waiting to be discovered by you for your special fishing experience.

On some banks you will find shelters that invite to stay and enjoy the nature a while. The fire pits in many of the windbreaks are ideal for a cozy fire after a successful day of fishing.

Hiking Guide for the Oviken mountains

In June 2022, the 2nd edition of our activity guide for the Swedish Oviksfjäll written in German was published. It includes 32 selected hikes in the Oviken Mountains in Jämtland with different difficulties, so that there is something for every hiker. Detailed topographic maps for each hike make orientation on the trail easier. The in-depth tour descriptions and pictures are based on our years of experience and knowledge on site.

Hiking in the Fjäll

The best way to explore the wide mountain area - the Fjäll - with countless peaks and grazing land for the reindeer, native to this area, is on a mountain hike. It is not far to the tree line from Galå Fjällgård. A variety of hikes in the Arådalen and Marntallsåsen nature reserve await you.
